My Top Foundation Picks
If you've read my blog or follow me on Instagram you'll know that I'm a huge advocate of skincare first, makeup second.
About a year ago I removed fragrance from my skincare and I've seen a huge difference in my skin. The blotchy redness around my cheek area is gone and the overall tone and texture has greatly improved.
I also love makeup and am just as conscious about the ingredients. What's the point of taking it out of your skincare if you're just going to put it back on your face with your make up.
I do want to say that I haven't completely removed all the bad stuff from every single product I use. However I'm most concerned with products that I use on my face.
I currently go between two different foundations depending on the day.
For days when my face needs a little boost I'll use my Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. This is a mineral foundation that provides light to medium coverage. It has a physical sunscreen SPF 15 PA++. It is paraben, sulphate and phthalate free. It doesn't contain artificial color, fragrance, mineral oil and is cruelty free.
I dab this on outer and inner corner of my eyes, around my nose and mouth, on my chin and a little on my forehead. That's it! I don't feel the need to slather foundation on my entire face, which is the same face that I've been working so hard to keep hydrated, protected and freefrom blemishes with my skincare routine.
When my face is looking a little sallow due to lack of sleep or diet or whatever the reason may be I reach for my Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation. this option gives me a little more coverage without looking made up. It is paraben, phthalate and talc free and also vegan and hypoallergenic.
As with the liquid, I make it a point not to overdo it and buff in one thin layer starting in the center of my face and working outward.
I feel good about using both of these products because they don't contain ingredients that I shy away from in my skincare.
Are you conscious about ingredient in both your makeup and skincare?
